This hotel's rooms are way bigger than most others in the area. It has a good location if you want to be in the middle of it all but you might want to give it a skip if you are a light sleeper - traffic can be heard until late into the night. The staff are welcoming and open to discussions. The "shower" has good water pressure and the beds are comfortable.

I stayed with my family for a few days. This hotel has a good location in old Hanoi and it was very convenient to explore Hanoi city. The staff was kind and helpful. I have a good impression. They provide airport pick-up service and other travel tours in Vietnam. You may ask them for the informations. Good place to enjoy Hanoi!

So I booked into the Bodega Hotel for 6 nights. They were courteous and friendly on arrival although they tried to tell me that my booking didn't exist and continued to do so until I presented the receipt issued by hotels dot com. Even after doing so, they tried to charge me more. The room was large and clean but that was all the good points. The large CRT style television in the room had no power socket to plug it into. The locked balcony door looked out to a balcony with a dead rat and a broken dining chair and an accumulation of dirt and trash on it. The bathroom was little more than a shoebox, it's ceiling was covered with mould and the only way to have a shower was to hold a slightly too short hand held device over yourself. Sitting on the toilet meant sitting sideways to avoid getting cut by the broken toilet roll holder. The staff were always friendly and ready to help with directions to stores and attractions and the front desk was manned 24/7 even if it was a man sleeping on a camp stretcher bed in the foyer after midnight. Breakfast was a very simple buffet: Eggy bread that you could toast yourself, Jam, Butter, Tea & Coffee, Sliced Tomato, Sliced Ham, Sliced Cucumber, an Eggy Fried Rice dish, an Eggy Noodle Dish and Scrambled Eggs with Steamed Asian Greens. It was the same every day and never changes. Unfortunately, the 8 a.m. dining room opening hours did not necessarily mean that breakfast would be ready on time or hot for that matter. Sometime on the last night, over 2 Million Dong worth of souvenirs and 1.5 Million Dong in cash went missing from my room. At all times my room was kept locked when I left the hotel. I have my suspicions as to who took them but when that person is the one checking the security footage on behalf of the hotel owner... well long story short, on the last day the hotel manager agreed to pay me half back in cash and took me to the local police station to make a report for the rest for insurance purposes. That is one experience you don't want in Vietnam thats for sure as the police aren't exactly friendly towards foreigners. In the end I was three hours late for my flight so was charged 1.25 Million more Dong to change my flight.

The room itself was very basic, and maybe even a little dirty. The walls were a bit damp in places, and the air con was leaking. The beds were firm and did become uncomfortable. The shower was hand held which was unusual for us, but it did the job! However, the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and helped us with our trip to Halong Bay which was reasonably priced and went off without any problems. They really tried to be as accommodating as possible. I think the hotel just needs a bit of TLC and it would be a great spot for travelers. It's a good location and the staff are wonderful! We only tried their breakfast once, and we were a little disappointed. Again the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch, one plate of food had bugs crawling on it... But the options themselves weren't bad, toast, meat, cucumber, rice, noodles. If you're looking for somewhere cheap in a great location, and want to take a tour elsewhere during your stay then I would highly recommend. If you want comfort and frills then do avoid.
